Frequently Asked Questions

1.When will THE RACK be available?

We are happy to announce that THE RACK will be available for purchase December 12, 2024 at the Tulsa Farm Show, or from our website. 735/737

2. Do I have to use the flat bars and JB Weld that is included?

If you have a steel truck bed then no, you don’t have to use the flat bars but we recommend for a much stronger attachment point that you do.  We include 300# magnets with each rack and for light duty organization (groceries, small light items, or empty gas cans) the magnets alone should be fine but if you are doing any kind of heavy-duty organization (filled gas cans, tools, camping/fishing equipment) we recommend using the included steel flat bars for added holding strength.

3. Should I wear gloves when dealing with THE RACK?

We 100% recommend wearing gloves any time you are handling THE RACK.  These magnets are VERY strong and if they attach to one another they will “snap” into place.  If your finger is between them it may cause an injury.  NEVER put the rack together or take apart without wearing good quality gloves.

4. What if they magnets get stuck together? How do I get them apart?

These magnets will find their way to each other and when they are stuck, they are stuck.  If the magnets do get stuck together, slide them apart, do not try to pull them apart.  Use a bench vice or some type of work bench edge and slide them apart.  Use of a small hammer type tool will be helpful to get them apart.

5. Is the JB Weld included a good adhesive?

Yes, we find that the JB Weld does a great job at attaching the flat bars to the bed of a pickup truck.  You are welcome to use any type of adhesive you’d like but we wanted you to be able to install THE RACK as soon as you received it.

6. How long should we let the JB Weld to set before we attach our rack to it?

The package says it sets in a few minutes and it does, but for optimal adhesive strength we recommend letting it set without attaching magnets for 24 hours.  Always measure twice and set the flat bars once.  These are very difficult to remove after they have been attached for several hours.

7. When putting the rack together do the squares on THE RACK have to line up perfectly in order to attach equipment to it?

Not at all, that is one of the biggest plusses for THE RACK.  You will see that one side of THE RACK is slotted and the other side has holes.  We did this so that no matter what length you need THE RACK to be set, you would be able to have tie down points.

8. Can I use THE RACK as ramps to load and unload my side by side onto a trailer?

We do not recommend using the rack for any purpose other than organizing your favorite items in the back of your truck.  It is not designed for any other purpose

9. Can I buy the rack from any retailer?

When our launch date of December 12th arrives, we will only be selling them through our website and in person at various trade shows.

10. I used the included flat bars and THE RACK holds very strong on the bed of my truck, what is the best way to remove it?

There are two ways we suggest you remove the rack if you are using the included steel flat bars.  One way is to unscrew the magnet and remove the rack and then re-attach the eye bolt to the magnet and you can then remove the magnets by sliding them across the surface of the flat bar.  It will be a very strong attachment so make sure you don’t try to pull the magnet off.  It will be much easier to remove by sliding it to get it off.  The other way you can remove the rack is to use a rubber mallet on the inside corners of THE RACK just behind the magnets and with gentle taps.  THE RACK with disconnect and you will be able to remove it from your truck bed.

11. What tools will I need to assemble THE RACK?

The only required tools are 3/8” and 7/16” wrenches or sockets to tighten the nuts and bolts. In a pinch, it can be fully assembled with only one of the two sizes.

12. Can we use THE RACK as a tie-down point for ratchet straps?

No, THE RACK is not designed to be used with ratcheting straps in any capacity.

13. How are other people using the rack?

One of the best things about this product is its versatility. It has been used to hold items near the side wall of the truck bed such as firewood, gas cans, tools, groceries, camping gear, and many others. Another popular use is attaching items to the patterned cutouts (like a Molle system) using steel-cored rubber twist ties. The long length of the rack allows you to horizontally mount larger items such as shovels, rakes, and anything else that fits in your truck bed. You can even attach larger items like ice chests to the outside of the rack using bungee cords or other non-ratcheting options. For more ideas on recommended uses and accessories, visit badotp.com.
